Tal Hassner received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in applied mathematics and computer science from the Weizmann Institute of Science in 2002 and 2006, respectively. In 2008 he joined the Department of Math. and Computer Science at The Open Univ. of Israel where he was an Associate Professor until 2018. From 2015 to 2018, he was also a senior computer scientist at the Information Sciences Institute (ISI) and a Visiting Research Associate Professor at the Institute for Robotics and Intelligent Systems, Viterbi School of Engineering, both at USC, CA, USA. From 2018 to 2019, he was a principal applied scientist at AWS Rekognition, where he led the development of the AWS face recognition services. Since 2019 he is a research manager at Meta (formally Facebook) where in his first two years he directed the development of Meta platforms' face recognition and OCR services. He now leads applied research at Meta's TrustAI, related to responsible AI. Among his community roles, Tal served as a program chair for WACV'18, ICCV'21, and ECCV'22, and a general chair for WACV'24. Finally, he is an associate editor at IEEE-TPAMI and IEEE-TBIOM.
